Where to find us, and what to expect when you get here.
The waiting room, the key drop, and whether there is a ride — the questions everyone asks and almost no shop answers.
When you arrive
We are on El Cajon Blvd in North Park. Come to the desk and tell whoever is there what the car is doing — when it happens, how fast you were going, whether the engine is cold or warm. Two minutes at the counter saves more diagnostic time than anything else you can do.
Repair, body and machine work in one place
Most shops send body work and machine work out. Here the repair shop, the body shop and a full machine shop are on the same site, which is why a job that would normally bounce between three businesses does not.
Getting here
The shop is on El Cajon Blvd in North Park, a few minutes from University Heights, Normal Heights and South Park, and a short run from Hillcrest or City Heights. Coming across from the 805 or the 15, El Cajon Blvd runs straight to the door. There is street parking on the boulevard and on the side streets either side.
Hours, and what happens after hours
The shop is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 in the morning to 5:30 in the afternoon, and closed at weekends. If your car needs to be left outside those hours, ring first and the desk will tell you where to leave it and what to do with the keys — do not just drop a car and post the keys through, because nobody will know it is there until somebody notices.
What to bring
Bring the car and whatever you know about the problem: when it happens, whether the engine is cold or warm, how fast you were going, and whether anything changed just before it started. If another shop has looked at it, bring their paperwork — knowing what has already been replaced saves paying to replace it twice. For a pre-purchase inspection, bring the seller’s advert as well.
What it costs to be told
You get a written estimate before any work starts, and nothing is done until you have approved it. If the job turns out to be different once it is apart, you get a revised figure to approve rather than a surprise at the counter. If we look and find you do not need the repair you came in for, we will say so.
If you cannot wait
Ask the desk when you book. It depends on the day and the job, and you will get a straight answer on the phone rather than after you have arrived.
Tell us the symptom. We will tell you the next opening.
The chat narrows the symptom down with you so the call is short and the desk knows what to pull before you arrive. It will not diagnose your car in a chat window, and it does not book for you — the last step is a phone call, to a person.
